"Now look who's paying us a visit".
The young princess remarked.
" That should be my line, child". Irene said warmly.
"And what are you, witch, to have right to lines in my absolute presence?"
Not seeming disturbed, Irene answered without grudge.
"With all due respect, my royal child, I have all rights that I choose to have. Not even your father can take them from me".
Ashley felt struck but she couldn't lose her composure just yet, there would be more than enough time to pay back later.
" I forbid you from calling me child. I am not a child and the most unfortunate of all, yours".
The old woman smiled at the ignorance of the princess. "I can call you whatever I wish to, child".
Ashley let out a gleeful laughter. "If you must know, I commend your staunch defiance to orders. Irene. I have heard a lot about you while trying to seek you out. I know that you're not a woman that knows fear. Let me accredit that to your wild powers. Please permit me to let you know that we are aware of your little secret. Your child."
Irene's hands shook uncontrollably and one of her bracelets fell off. The diamond at the center broke and a blue-ish smoke went up from it.
Ashley felt a flush of pride as she observed Irene's disconcerted face.
'How about that for a payback' she thought.
"Oh, I guess you thought your secret safe" she continued. "It's a small world Irene. A very small one. And you, you run around in it naked because we can see everything you do".
Irene only looked on round-eyed. So many thoughts whirling through her mind that moment. Her time was nearly up, there was little she could do now. She could only hope that her child makes a difference.
Ashley felt proud of her triumph. She had totally crushed down Irene's wall of defence. She could act now. OR, stick around to relish the joy of the moment some more.
" So, where did you keep the child, in a cave or in a chest, like some treasure". Ashley cackled.
Though scared, she knew she wasn't completely defeated.
"You'll never find the child". Irene said strongly.
"Don't be ridiculous Irene. I have told you, now, you have no secrets". Ashley scoffed.
Irene laughed, at first quietly, then it turned to a roaring laughter. Her laughter had effects, though not the desired one. But she had Ashley confused as to her sudden burst into laughter.
" Listen to what you say, child. If I have no secrets, why can't you find the child by yourself?”
Ashley came down from the rock she had been standing on and neared the frail looking woman and without warning, grabbed her by her neck.
"Enough of your hide and seek games. I demand to know immediately where you have kept the child".
The older woman did not struggle with princess.
Iren remained silent and further infuriated Ashley.
" You know, it's your loss here. You can choose to tell me where you've kept the child and you'll live for the rest of the year before you're killed or you remain mute and I'll kill you here and now. Either way you lose. I'll find your child and I tell you, she'll be coming straight to you.
