France's official name is French Republic. It is in Western Europe. France has one of the largest economies and the second largest population (after Germany).
Seven Interesting Facts about France.
1. President Charles de Gaulle, one of France's former presidents,  earned himself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the person that has survived the most assassination attempts in the world. He survived 32 assassination attempts.

2. A French woman is the world's oldest human. Jeanne Calment lived 122 years and 164 days. She was born on the 21st of February 1875 and died on the 4th of August 1997.


3. There are twelve time zones in use in France which makes the highest number among any nation in the world.

4. The French sleep the most among people in the developed world. On average, they sleep 8.83 hours per day.

5. Post humous marriage (Marriage after one partner has died) is legal in France in some exceptional cases.

6. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from the people of France to the United States of America. It was built by Gustave Eiffel,  the same man who constructed the Eiffel Tower.


7. French fries and French toast are not French invention.


(French fries actually have Belgian origins, while for French toast, the origins are still unknown but it started as an act of trying not to throw away stale bread and it didn't start in France)
