Twisted 🌀 chapter 5
9am on Monday morning, Madison and I were seated in Braden's office. We're not on first name basis, not even close but with Madison it's cool to call him Braden.
I loved the preferential treatment though it made me very uncomfortable. One minute, I was an ordinary girl in an ordinary place (don't misunderstand me yet, Webstix is a wonderful place and very homey) and the next minute I was an ordinary girl in an extraordinary place, staring at stardom in the face.
"Good morning Miss Audrey..."
He had just walked in. He was about to say something but must have stopped as soon as he noticed Madison.
"You brought a friend today"
I wasn't sure of how to describe the tone of his voice, was he displeased?
"It's good to know that you have people around you."
"Yes sir. Her name's Madison Harris. She's my best friend".
Madison smiled as she shook the palm he extended.
"It's nice to meet you sir."
"It's a pleasure meeting you too Miss Harris. Miss Audrey, I'm quite sure you've made your decision so can I hear it?”
" Yes sir. I have decided to join the acting school for proper training. I am okay with the terms of agreement. "
"That's great. I suggest you resume right away. I would take you there today since it's your first day. We should be on our way now".
It was a fair deal that would only cost me my time but cost him a lot more. I was very happy I met with this opportunity. If it was a dream though then I shall work to dream forever. Right now I have to enjoy the moment. Walking down the hallway by his side was thrilling. It was like the respect that he was given was accorded to the three of us. Madison smiled at me again and again. I could tell she was very excited but she had a strong composure, other people would barely see her excitement.
As we approached the main exist, I expected to see a limousine park right out with a chaffeur awaiting us in a prim suit. I won't say that I was grossly disappointed because I was now beginning to observe that Mr Willian was actually a simple man, well as much as he could. He couldn't possibly be simple with the architecture of his tower, it really couldn't be helped. Then I remembered how casual he looked on the day of the first interview, right, he must be rather simple. A man drove a wine coloured Bentley Bentayga towards our direction and parked right at the front of the door. With a slight bow, he handed the keys over. I watched with amazement as Mr Willian got in and asked Madison and I to do the same. There's really so much to see here. He was doing the driving himself. I was about to sit at the back with Madison, when he looked over his shoulder.
"You shouldn't make me into your driver, you can sit at the front. Moreover I'm not ugly. Miss Audrey, the front seat is empty".
He flashed me a smile. A more casual one.
I must have blushed a little pink, I hoped it wasn't so glaring.
He asked little questions to keep the conversation going. Madison helped out too because I was busy being too nervous.
After thirty minutes, every time he slowed down, I'd think we were at our destination. It happened about five times. He must have noticed my uneasiness.
" Miss Audrey, we are about forty minutes away from our destination. It's quite a distance from the middle of town as you see. I've been pondering on how you would come here everyday. There's just one bus. It leaves at 7:30 in the morning and comes around by 6:00. It's only one ride for the day".
"It's not a problem sir. 7:30 is not too early to be at the bus stop. I'm okay with it."
"I know you wouldn't mind but to make it easier for you, I'd have one of my aides drop you off in morning. You can come with the bus in the afternoon".
I was surprised. I knew I should be thankful but a part of me was curious.
"I do not mean to be rude sir but why are you doing all of these for me?"
"It's okay, I understand. It's only natural that you're curious. For some years now, I've been working on a movie and just at the middle of it the teen face of the main character, like her representation while she was younger runs off to sign another contract and when she tries to come back, she finds out that she's pregnant. Things must have gotten really messed up for her. Summary is we urgently need a replacement. I know if you're trained for a few months, you're good to go. Well there you have it Miss Audrey. You're welcome for ruining your surprise".
