Let's get back to business Miss Audrey. I wouldn't say you are an actress because I haven't seen you perform. You didn't sound very convincing at the interview either but I'm willing to give you a chance here. Here I have the terms clearly spelt out. Get back to me within a week. I would have loved that we chat for a little more time but I have some business to attend to. If you have questions, call me, my personal number is in there. I should see you soon."
"It's fine sir. I'm grateful for your re-consideration and I promise not to disappoint you."
Or do I? I can't make such promises but it's the formal thing to do.
Later at night, I joined mum in the kitchen . We really had to talk, I couldn't handle what was before me alone.
"Alaina, so all of that happened and you didn't say a word up until now. Truthfully I'm very displeased. I was only away because I didn't want to interrupt in all of your girl talk with Madison. Maybe I stayed away a lil too much. Work got in the way too, I'm sorry love. I've never stopped believing in your dream of acting. I know you'll own your stage someday".
" Thanks mum. I'm grateful that you always understand. I just have some really big decisions to make. The offer looks great and "The terms of Agreement" are fair enough, but I have to choose between this and Webstix. You know I work at Webstix so I can save up for college and I haven't been there for up to a year, I probably don't have enough for school yet and...."
"Alaina I understand your worries but you seem to forget that I work for you and for Aaron and for Robyn. It's nice that you're complementing my efforts but remember it's my duty. Your college fees will be taken care of, I promise you that.
Alaina, follow your dreams, how do you know if an opportunity like this would come again".
I wasn't expecting to hear anything bad but this was far better than I expected. Mum was just so awesome. I hugged her lightly.
" Would you need me to come with you on Monday?"
"No mom, I'll be fine. Madison is coming with me."
The atmosphere at dinner was cool. I was happy I had my family and sweet Madi. She got along well with Rob almost more than I do.
When everyone had retired for the night, I went to mum's room for final words on the acting school.
"If it doesn't work out mum, I would leave for Webstix. Larry says I'm always welcome."
"No Alaina, I believe it would work out. You've got the talents and brain. Work hard at it Alaina, I'm sure you won't have to go back to Webstix. I love you dear".
"I love you too mum".
I was likely the happiest person tonight. I smiled till I opened my door.
No way.
" Madison. How did those things get here?"
"I brought them over from home this evening. Rob and I went home so I packed some and brought them over."
"Some, you just said some, Madison. I can't have any more lessons and tutorials tonight. I'm rather very exhausted and all of these ain't necessary. Let's do it some other time".
It was one thing that she was going to lecture me, it was another that she'd not finish talking in the next hour.
"C'mon Alaina, it won't be long. I'm only doing my job, though many actresses have their personal make up artist but they also do their makeup themselves should there be an award ceremony. Alaina, it's a part of your training and I'm the best teacher you could ever have, you have to admit that. So what do you say, shall we?”
I sighed and nodded for her to continue
" So for a Soft Rosy Smokey eye..."
And we went on and on.
